Definition and Indication
nephea is a protein-reduced, electrolyte-defined oral sip feed / tube feed for use in chronic kidney disease (e.g. Pre-ESRD or CRF), when a protein-reduced, electrolyte-defined nutrition is required.
Dosage
nephea can be used as a complete feed or as a supplement to a special diet. The daily amount of nephea depends on age and bodyweight of the infant / child and should be given in 3-5 single portions. The patient-adjusted dosage is calculated on the basis of daily energy requirements according to the Recommended Dietary Allowances. It should be re-calculated and adjusted regularly following medical monitoring.
Medical and dietetic supervision is indispensible in any case.
Use only under medical supervision. Do not use in case of cow's milk protein allergy or in severe disorders of digestion and absorption. Contains easily digestible carbohydrates. In case of impaired glucose tolerance use only under strict metabolic control. Not for parenteral use.
