nephea is available in 2 formulations: nephea und nephea HD. The difference between both products is related to the contents of Potassium and Phosphate. The nephrologist in the hospital will choose the suitable version. Both products, nephea as well as nephea HD are:

foods for special medical purposes intended for use in the dietary management of chronic kidney disease and in dialysis patients  energy-rich, protein-reduced, electrolyte-defined oral sip feed or tube feed suitable for tube feeding HD = formulation developed in co-operation with the Children's Hospital in "Heidelberg"    Definition and Indication nephea HD is a protein-reduced, electrolyte-defined oral sip feed / tube feed for use in chronic kidney disease (e.g. Pre-ESRD or CRF), when a protein-reduced, electrolyte-defined nutrition is required. Dosage nephea HD can be used as a complete feed or as a supplement to a special diet. The daily amount of nephea HD depends on age and body weight of the infant / child and should be given in 3-5 single portions. The patient-adjusted dosage is calculated on the basis of daily energy requirements according to the Recommended Dietary Allowances. It should be re-calculated and adjusted regularly following medical monitoring.  Medical and dietetic supervision is indispensible in any case. Important notice Use only under medical supervision. Do not use in case of cow's milk protein allergy or in severe disorders of digestion and absorption. Contains easily digestible carbohydrates. In case of impaired glucose tolerance use only under strict metabolic control. Not for parenteral use.
